Shinsegae Department Store announced Monday it is running a character pop-up event, "Bloky x Hobby Soul Doki Doki Character Festa," at the Open Stage on the first floor of its Gangnam branch in Central City.

Running through Nov. 3, the event showcases about 950 products from Bloky and Hobby Soul, along with figures based on more than 50 globally popular intellectual properties, including Marvel, Star Wars, Pokémon and Naruto. Merchandise featuring fan-favorite characters — among them Crayon Shin-chan, Sanrio, SpongeBob, Hatsune Miku, Minions and Monchhichi — will also be available.

Two new products will be exclusive to the event: the Bloky Hatsune Miku Strawberry Shortcake limited edition and the Bloky Evangelion Action Edition Units 0 and 2 TV version.

The store entrance features a photo zone with popular characters and large three-dimensional figures, as well as a display area where visitors can browse plastic model kits and merchandise in person. A guaranteed-prize random draw is also on offer at 10,000 won ($8) per entry.

Customers who spend 50,000 won or more will receive a random character goods gift, while those spending 90,000 won or more will receive a character diary on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. A follow event on Hobby Soul's official Instagram account will run alongside the pop-up.

Shinsegae Department Store has been staging a series of character and IP pop-ups this year. Sales related to character and IP content from January through September more than doubled compared with the same period last year. "Popular characters and fandom-driven content have become a new reason for younger customers to visit department stores," a Shinsegae official said. "We will continue to seek out differentiated IP content going forward."
