Geumcheon-gu is recruiting about 100 residents to join a citizen planning committee for the "2050 Geumcheon Plan," a long-term urban development initiative. Applications are open from Monday through Nov. 13.

The 2050 Geumcheon Plan aims to define the district's long-term vision for 2050 and map out development directions and key projects for the Gasan, Doksan and Siheung neighborhoods. The district office plans to review ongoing development and redevelopment projects alongside infrastructure such as roads, transportation networks and parks to chart a concrete path for the area's future.

Geumcheon-gu, established as Seoul's last autonomous district, has reshaped its landscape through urban development over the years. This round of planning is designed to incorporate the voices of residents who know the area best, reflecting the distinct character of each neighborhood as well as the everyday inconveniences and changes that locals want to see.

The citizen planning committee will consist of about 100 members. Any Geumcheon-gu resident or employee of a business located in the district may apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their understanding of and interest in the area and any experience with urban planning activities. Selection will also take into account geographic, age and gender balance to ensure broad representation across different segments of the community.

Selected members will take part in workshops and other sessions from December through the completion of the plan, discussing local issues and development priorities as they help build the 2050 Geumcheon Plan.

Residents wishing to apply can download an application form from the "Geumcheon News" section of the Geumcheon-gu district office website and submit it by email, or visit the Urban Planning Division on the 11th floor of the district office or their local community center in person. Application details and forms are also accessible via the QR code on the recruitment poster. Applicants will be notified of results individually on Nov. 20.

"Geumcheon's future must be built together with the residents who know the district best," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "We will find the answers in residents' daily lives and turn the plan we build together into real, everyday change — creating a vibrant Geumcheon where everyone can live well."
