Held Tuesday at Dobong-gu Office ... more than 1,800 residents attend
Public lectures, information booths and a mental wellness bus offer a full range of mental health support
Dobong-gu said its "2026 Mental Health Day" commemoration, held Tuesday at the Dobong-gu Office, drew strong public interest and participation.
The district prepared three main offerings to help residents reflect on their mental well-being and break down stigma around mental illness: a public mental health lecture, an information booth zone and a "Mind Comfort Bus."
The public lecture featured psychiatrist Kim Jin, who spoke on stress and anxiety arising from interpersonal relationships.
The information booths ran a range of programs — guidance on public mental health services, a self-assessment of mental well-being, a mental health awareness quiz and an anxiety-relief kit workshop.
The Mind Comfort Bus, operated in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Psychological Support Center, offered stress measurement using heart rate variability, healing virtual reality experiences and mental health consultations.
Participants checked their stress levels and overall mental health, and received counseling and guidance on mental health management based on their results.
The event was organized by 13 institutions, including the Dobong-gu Public Health Center and the Dobong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center, along with other local agencies working on mental health promotion and suicide prevention. A total of more than 1,800 residents attended.
One resident who took part said she was grateful for "such a wonderful event and lecture for the mental health of residents," adding that she looked forward to carrying and using the anxiety-relief kit she made at the event.
Dobong-gu District Mayor Kim Dong-wook said he hoped the event had given residents "a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the importance of mental health and shed prejudices about mental illness." He added that the district would continue to strengthen its support system covering the full spectrum of mental health care, from prevention to treatment and recovery.
