Haenam Dinosaur Museum will host a special academic lecture exploring the potential of merging AI content with cultural and natural heritage. The "AI Heritage Cinema Academic Lecture" will run from 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum's first-floor lobby and is open to all visitors.

The event was organized to examine how AI technology — which has been spreading rapidly across the arts, culture and exhibition sectors — can offer fresh interpretations of cultural and natural heritage, and to chart the direction of future museum exhibition and education content.

The lecture carries particular significance for Haenam Dinosaur Museum, which has long centered its operations on natural heritage such as dinosaurs and fossils. The museum aims to explore the possibilities of new AI-driven cultural content and offer visitors a digital cultural experience that goes beyond its existing exhibitions.

The program is open to the general public and will consist of screenings of films and media art produced using AI technology, followed by talks from three domestic experts.

The screening portion will present about 10 works that reinterpret cultural and natural heritage across a range of fields — including history, science, art and literature — through AI technology.

The three experts will explain how AI was incorporated into the films during the screenings, then deliver individual talks drawing on their respective areas of specialization. Topics will include the digital recreation of cultural heritage using AI, video production, immersive exhibition content incorporating 3D and hologram technology, and AI-based filmmaking.

The museum said it plans to use the lecture as a springboard to explore ways to expand its exhibition and education functions — including immersive video content that digitally recreates dinosaur ecosystems and the Cretaceous environment, AI-based fossil restoration, and visitor-participatory experience programs.

"This academic lecture will be a meaningful occasion to examine how AI technology can convey the value of cultural and natural heritage in new ways," a county official said. "We will continue to apply cutting-edge digital technology to Haenam Dinosaur Museum's distinctive natural heritage, providing visitors with ever more vivid and high-quality cultural and scientific experiences."
