The city of Andong in North Gyeongsang Province will hold the "2026 Wannikyeo Andong Jangter" at Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall from Monday through Wednesday, the city announced Friday.
The three-day event is designed to introduce the city's agricultural and specialty products to consumers in the Greater Seoul area and help local farms and producers expand their sales channels.
Alongside direct-sale booths for local produce and specialty goods, the festival will feature traditional cultural performances and hands-on programs to promote Andong's culture and tourism resources.
Visitors can browse and purchase a range of locally grown and processed foods, including Andong Baekjinju rice, apples, Korean beef, salted mackerel, jjimdak (braised chicken), yam and hemp-based specialty products.
The event is expected to give local farms and producers a direct channel to consumers and help them secure new markets.
A lineup of performances showcasing Andong's traditional culture will also take place throughout the festival.
On the opening day Monday, visitors can watch a demonstration of Andong Chajeon Nori — a traditional tug-of-war game — and a performance by a mask-dance troupe.
A promotional experience pavilion will run programs centered on traditional liquor and Andong hemp cloth.
A tasting event called "Gimijuan" on Monday and Tuesday will let visitors sample eight varieties of Andong traditional liquor paired with matching dishes, with commentary from a guide. Walk-in participation will be available on a limited basis for any remaining seats not taken by advance reservation.
A weaving demonstration by a master craftsperson from Geumso Village, known for Andong hemp cloth, will be held three times daily. Promotional videos introducing Andong's major tourist attractions and festivals will also be screened to highlight the region's cultural and tourism offerings.
At a hometown love donation booth, the first 100 visitors who donate 100,000 won ($75) or more on-site will receive a standard gift along with an additional 20,000 won Andong Love gift voucher.
"We hope this market will be an opportunity to share Andong's warm hospitality and the charm of its traditions with Seoul residents," a city official said. "We ask for your interest and participation so that it can lead to expanded sales channels for local farms and greater awareness of our cultural and tourism resources."
