The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education said Wednesday that applications for the 2027 academic year secondary school teacher employment exam closed with competition ratios of 7.72 to 1 for public schools and 10.49 to 1 for private schools.

A total of 1,791 candidates applied for 232 public school positions, while 388 applied for 37 private school slots.

This year's public school ratio edged up from last year's 6.93 to 1, while the private school ratio edged down from 11.45 to 1.

The first-round written exam will be held Nov. 28, with results announced Dec. 29 on the city education office's website or the websites of the relevant school foundations.

The process then continues next year with a practical skills evaluation on Jan. 14, a demonstration lesson on Jan. 20 and an in-depth aptitude interview on Jan. 21, before final results are announced Feb. 5.

For private schools, the second-round exam and final results announcement will follow each school foundation's own selection schedule.
