Actor Ryu Su-young, a former combat police officer, took on the role of guest chef at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency cafeteria on Wednesday to mark the 81st Police Day.
Ryu took part in every step of the process, from menu planning and ingredient preparation to cooking and serving. The special meal, which he began preparing in the agency's kitchen in the early hours of Wednesday, was named "Eonam Seongsaeng Il Han Sang" — combining his nickname "Eonam Seongsaeng" with a nod to Police Day as the force's birthday. A total of 1,100 portions were prepared, using roughly one metric ton of ingredients.
Ryu served as a combat police officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's public relations unit — formerly known as the Horuragi Theater Troupe — from 2008 to 2010, completing his full term of service. "I really wanted to treat my colleagues at the Seoul agency, which feels like a second home to me, to a warm and hearty meal," he said of his decision to take part in the event.
