South Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that it will appoint Park Sung-min, director of the Local Administration Division at the Ministry of Interior and Safety, as its new planning and coordination office director, following a government personnel order. Park, a native of Changnyeong in South Gyeongsang Province, graduated from Masan Happo High School and the Department of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University, and entered public service in 2004 after passing the 47th Higher Civil Service Examination.

Park previously served South Gyeongsang Province as investment promotion chief and policy planning officer, overseeing investment attraction and the planning and coordination of major provincial policies. He later held a series of key posts at the Ministry of Interior and Safety, including director of the Social Organization Division, head of the Planning and Finance Office, and director of the Local Administration Division, where he handled regional economic affairs. He also served in the Situation Room of the Presidential Secretariat, gaining experience in managing national policy issues and fostering inter-agency cooperation — experience that has earned him a reputation for broad expertise in both central government and local administration, as well as strong policy coordination skills.

"I will work closely with the central government, cities and counties, and local communities to swiftly advance key provincial priorities, including securing national funding, improving regulation, attracting corporate investment and promoting balanced regional development," Park said. "I will do my utmost to secure the future growth engines of South Gyeongsang Province and improve the quality of life for its residents."

Meanwhile, Kim Ki-young, who had been serving as planning and coordination office director, moved to the post of Changwon deputy mayor on Wednesday.
