US stocks broadly advanced Tuesday (local time) as upbeat corporate earnings and a pullback in global oil prices lifted investor sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 529.85 points, or 1.02 percent, to close at 52,495.88. The S&P 500 rose 21.84 points, or 0.28 percent, to finish at 7,712.57. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was the lone decliner, slipping 6.07 points, or 0.02 percent, to end at 26,424.82.

Investor sentiment improved as several major companies reported quarterly results that beat market expectations.

Credit reporting firm Equifax surged 11.3 percent after posting quarterly net profit above forecasts, while toymaker Hasbro gained 11.2 percent on solid earnings. Industrial products manufacturer 3M rose more than 5 percent after topping earnings estimates and raising its full-year profit outlook.

A retreat in oil prices also supported the market. Brent crude, which had approached $112 per barrel during trading amid Middle East tensions, fell back below $109.
