Two sessions on Oct. 29 and 30 at Yeongdeungpo Arts Hall to cover everyday crime and digital sex crime prevention
A prominent attorney and a profiler will lead lectures aimed at building gender sensitivity and personal safety awareness
Each session open to 200 residents, 400 total, as part of efforts to make Yeongdeungpo-gu a safer community
Yeongdeungpo-gu will hold a two-day violence prevention education program for residents on Oct. 29 and 30 to help protect the community from crime.
Residents' anxiety over public safety has grown as random knife attacks and motiveless crimes have occurred with increasing frequency. The surge in new forms of crime — including deepfake sexual content created using AI, sophisticated digital sex crimes and stalking — has made crime prevention and early response more important than ever.
The sessions will be held in the second-floor exhibition hall of Yeongdeungpo Arts Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening. Well-known legal and criminal profiling experts have been invited to share practical crime prevention tips for everyday life.
On the first day, attorney Son Su-ho — a familiar face from JTBC's crime affairs program "Sageon Banjang" and numerous other broadcasts — will lead a lecture on preventing crime in daily life. Son will break down the various criminal risks residents may encounter and explain practical legal responses in accessible terms.
The following day, Lee Jin-suk, South Korea's first female criminal profiler and a guest on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," will speak on digital crime prevention and response. Her lecture will analyze the methods and patterns behind increasingly sophisticated digital offenses — including deepfake sex crimes and online sexual exploitation — and offer concrete guidance on how residents can protect themselves.
Each session is limited to 200 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is open through Oct. 28 via a QR code on the promotional poster. For more information, residents may contact the Yeongdeungpo-gu Children and Youth Division by phone.
"The need for education on crime prevention has grown significantly in light of recent incidents," a Yeongdeungpo-gu official said. "We hope this program, led by top experts in their respective fields, will serve as a foundation for keeping residents safe in their daily lives."
