Korail has secured a contract for the Asian Development Bank's "Azerbaijan Railway Digitalization Capacity Development" project and will conduct an invitation training program in South Korea.

The contract is significant as it represents international recognition of Korail's railway operating experience and training capabilities.

Korail announced Tuesday that it has invited six managers from Azerbaijan Railways for a training program running Monday through Friday, during which it will share Korea's digital transformation experience and key case studies in railway operations.

Korail said it plans to use the program as an opportunity to diversify its international cooperation partners and explore new avenues for overseas exchange.

The ADB's Technical Assistance program provides consulting and education from specialized institutions to support industrial development and technological advancement in developing countries. An opening ceremony was held at Seoul Station on Monday, attended by about 10 officials from Azerbaijan Railways and Korail.

The training will cover condition-based maintenance technology and AI and big data-based safety management platforms through lectures, as well as field visits to the Goyang KTX vehicle depot, the Railway Traffic Control Center and the IT Operations Center, sharing know-how on applying digital technology across railway operations.

Korail has operated the International Railway Training Center since 2008, sharing Korean railway operational expertise with 58 countries.

"We will continue to actively cooperate with international organizations and related institutions to promote the advanced technology and excellence of K-rail to the world," said Kim Gwang-mo, Korail's head of future business.
