Haitai Confectionery announced Tuesday it will launch Jagarico Salad Flavor, a product of Japan's leading snack maker Calbee, in South Korea.

Jagarico, first released in 1995, is Japan's top-selling potato stick snack, known for its distinctively crunchy texture that intensifies with each bite. The salad flavor is the product's most popular variety and its original offering. Haitai said it aims to tap into South Korea's potato stick market, which grew more than 29 percent last year.

Jagarico achieves its crispy texture through a proprietary "steam process" that dries steamed potatoes with hot air. Its potato content stands at 91 percent, the highest among major potato stick products sold in South Korea. To mark the launch, the company will hold a street event in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on Saturday.

"Built on its differentiated taste and texture, Jagarico will establish itself as a potato stick snack beloved by a wide range of consumers here," a Haitai Confectionery official said.
