Singer-songwriter Lee Jae, who gained international recognition for the song "Golden" from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, has married her longtime partner Sam Kim (Samuel Kim).

According to US fashion magazine Vogue on Sunday (local time), Lee and Sam Kim held an outdoor wedding ceremony Saturday at Stage28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.

The couple had originally planned to marry in California the following month, but moved the date up by about a month and changed the venue to South Korea. The wedding date was not disclosed to the public in advance.

The two had briefly put wedding preparations on hold due to promotional commitments following the success of KPop Demon Hunters, before tying the knot after four months of planning.

Stage28, where the ceremony was held, sits on the former home site of veteran actor Shin Young-kyun, 99, Lee's maternal grandfather, making it a place of special significance to the family. In an interview with Vogue, Lee said her grandparents had lived there during her childhood. "I used to walk up the hill behind the house with my grandfather," she said, adding that her oppa had also married at the same venue.

On the wedding preparations, she said, "It was hectic and stressful at times, but everything came together perfectly."

Lee and Sam Kim first met in 2017 during a music session. The two went on to become collaborators and a couple, and got engaged in June last year.

Lee is a former SM Entertainment trainee who has worked on numerous K-pop tracks, including Red Velvet's "Psycho" and aespa's "Drama." Last year, she co-wrote and performed "Golden," the theme song for the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, earning her a global following. Sam Kim works as a producer, composer and computer programmer.
