The Korea Labor Foundation is inviting the public to suggest a name for a new public-private cooperative network aimed at protecting the labor rights of workers.

The foundation announced Tuesday that it will hold a naming contest for the network from Tuesday through Nov. 8 — a 20-day submission window.

The network brings together central and local government agencies, private labor centers, and labor organizations to jointly address workplace issues facing workers.

Its goal is to connect workers with services tailored to their needs — including labor counseling, education, legal support and rights remedies — so that anyone facing difficulties at work can access the help they require.

The foundation said the contest is part of a broader effort to strengthen a field-centered labor support system, reduce blind spots in labor rights protection, and build a framework that can respond quickly to workers' on-the-ground needs.

Any member of the public with an interest in labor rights protection may enter. Submissions are made through Naver Forms, where participants can propose a name for the network and also share opinions on what support workers need or what role they would like the government to play in protecting labor rights.

Entries will be judged on creativity, completeness, relevance and practicality. The winning name will be announced Nov. 18.

The winner will receive 1 million won ($745) in Onnuri gift certificates, and 50 participants selected by draw will each receive a 20,000 won mobile culture gift voucher.

Park Jong-pil, secretary-general of the Korea Labor Foundation, said it is important for diverse stakeholders in the field to fulfill their respective roles while continuing to provide the support workers need. "Starting with this contest, we will work to spread awareness that everyone's labor rights deserve protection, and to make it easier for the public to understand and access the wide range of support and activities available," Park said.

Further details are available in the public notice posted on the Korea Labor Foundation's website.
