Pohang in North Gyeongsang Province has completed construction of an urban road connecting Iin IC to a Hanshin Construction apartment complex and opened the full route, the city announced Tuesday.

The two-lane road stretches 1.74 kilometers and was built at a total cost of 25.1 billion won ($18.7 million). Construction began in November 2020, and after roughly six years of work the road now provides a direct link between Iin IC and the Hanshin Construction apartment complex.

The opening is expected to improve access between KTX Pohang Station, the Iin district and surrounding areas, while also easing traffic flow and vehicle convenience across the region.

The stronger connections between major roads and nearby communities are also expected to make daily travel more convenient for residents.

"This road opening is meaningful in that it connects Iin IC with the Hanshin Construction apartment complex, improving traffic access and enhancing residents' quality of daily life," Pohang Mayor Park Yong-seon said. "We will continue to do our best to expand road infrastructure that citizens can feel in their everyday lives and to create a comfortable traffic environment."
