Yeongcheon in North Gyeongsang Province has dispatched a trade delegation to Thailand and Malaysia on a six-day trip through Saturday, aiming to help local small and medium-sized enterprises break into overseas markets and expand exports, the city announced Tuesday.

The delegation was organized to help local SMEs enter foreign markets, with export consultations with local buyers aimed at uncovering new business partners and expanding trade opportunities.

Yeongcheon recruited participating companies in June and selected 13 firms.

The participating companies are Gyeongnong Industrial, Gyeongbuk Haetsal Nonwon, Daywells, Duri Enterprise, Revjour, Mugye Bio, Signal Care, Simbak, UJ Tech, GNS, Cheonga Frozen Foods, T-Well and Hanul.

The delegation will hold buyer consultation sessions, market-entry seminars and industrial tours of distributors and related institutions — in Thailand from Tuesday through Wednesday, and in Malaysia from Thursday through Friday.

Yeongcheon will support the participating firms by conducting local market research, identifying and matching potential buyers, operating consultation booths and providing interpretation services.

"We hope this trade delegation will serve as an opportunity for local SMEs to enter overseas markets and find new buyers," a Yeongcheon city official said. "We will continue to strengthen the export competitiveness of local companies and expand their overseas reach through tailored overseas marketing support."
