Jang Tae-hwan, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly's Economy and Labor Committee, visited the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation on Monday to hear directly from business owners in the Uiwang area about their operational difficulties and to explore ways to revive the local economy.
The foundation's Gunpo branch appointed Jang as honorary branch manager for the day and held an on-site consultation session. The Gunpo branch serves both Uiwang and Gunpo, and small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners in the Uiwang area use it for credit guarantee consultations and financial support.
The session was organized to identify the challenges business operators face and to jointly explore support measures needed to stabilize their operations. Attendees included Jang, foundation President Si Seok-jung, representatives of small business and SME associations, and branch managers from local financial institutions.
As Economy and Labor Committee Chairman, Jang has continued his legislative work focused on improving operating conditions for small business owners and restoring the local economy.
In September, he met with the Gyeonggi Small Business Owners Federation and the Gyeonggi Merchants Federation to discuss ways to stimulate consumer spending and expand support budgets. At that meeting, he listened to proposals including expanding the foundation's contribution fund to meet rising loan demand, and said he would examine the requests closely during upcoming budget deliberations and policy discussions.
On Monday, Jang received a briefing on the Gunpo branch's regional and operational issues before joining a roundtable with small business owners and SME representatives. He listened to their concerns — including sluggish sales and the burden of managing cash flow — and exchanged views with foundation and financial institution officials on ways to ease financing difficulties.
He then received his honorary branch manager certificate from President Si and personally greeted SME owners and small business operators who visited the branch, taking part in credit guarantee consultations.
The honorary branch manager event gave Jang an opportunity to examine the small business support agenda he has been pursuing against the real-world conditions faced by local entrepreneurs. The foundation plans to use feedback gathered during the roundtable and consultations to assess financial support needs and work with the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly to improve the effectiveness of its programs.
