Songpa-gu in Seoul announced Monday that it has finalized 100 campaign pledge projects across seven policy areas to realize the 9th elected-term district vision of becoming a "city of overwhelming difference."

The 100 projects span seven categories: premium residential city (35 projects), city in a garden (13), city of culture and arts (5), city of lifestyle sports (8), city of educational advancement (14), city of health and longevity (7) and city of inclusion (18).

The district selected key initiatives aimed at driving urban transformation through support-oriented administration rather than regulation. Priority projects include fast-tracking reconstruction and redevelopment by neighborhood, a mixed-use MICE development at Jamsil Sports Complex, and the creation of a walkable street garden along Songpa-daero. The district said the Songpa-daero street garden project represents the final piece in the broader effort to upgrade the boulevard.

Projects designed to deliver tangible benefits to residents in daily life include easing parking enforcement to support lower-income households, a seasonal Culture Day project at Seokchon Lake, operation of water play parks and snow sledding hills, and expanded support for native English-speaking teachers in public schools.

To strengthen accountability and transparency in fulfilling its pledges, the district this month appointed 30 residents to a "9th Elected-Term Songpa-gu Pledge Implementation Evaluation Panel" through an open application process. Selected through public recruitment, the panel will offer input from the detailed planning stage of each project, participate in pledge review and revision procedures, and monitor district administration overall. Members will serve until June 2030, when the 9th elected term ends.

The district plans to publish the panel's evaluation results regularly on its website. Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Gang-seok said the district would "carry out all 100 campaign pledge projects without a hitch and, together with the pledge evaluation panel, carefully oversee the process to build a Songpa that is an even better place to live — a city of true, overwhelming difference."
