Eunhaesa temple, the head temple of the 10th district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, successfully concluded the sixth Eunbit Cultural Festival of Jungak Palgongsan over two days on Saturday and Sunday.
This year's festival was hosted and organized by Eunhaesa, with support from North Gyeongsang Province and Yeongcheon City.
On the first day, Saturday, a joint memorial rite was held to honor Buddhist monk soldiers and civilian militia who fought during the Imjin War. The ceremony offered a solemn occasion to reflect on the historical significance of the battle to recapture Yeongcheon Fortress during the war.
On the second day, the temple held a founding anniversary ceremony marking the 1,217th year since Eunhaesa's establishment, commemorating the temple's long history.
Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byeong-sam said he hoped the festival would serve as a meaningful occasion to reflect on the region's history and culture. "We will continue to expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture through diverse cultural events that draw on local cultural resources, and work to invigorate the regional cultural scene," he said.
