Yeungnam University of Science and Technology held an AI talent development program Thursday and Friday for about 40 residents of Daegu's Nam-gu district, aimed at strengthening their ability to use AI.
Nam-gu District Mayor Jo Jae-gu attended the event to encourage participants.
The first session, held Thursday, focused on basic AI literacy and building practical skills with generative AI tools.
Friday's session covered AI agents and their applications in everyday life and the workplace.
Alongside this, the program addressed privacy and security risks that can arise when using AI. Participants learned about types of digital fraud, how to identify misinformation, and precautions to take when entering personal information — equipping them with foundational guidelines for safe AI use and a stronger understanding of digital information.
Yeungnam University of Science and Technology plans to hold another session on AI basics and generative AI for local residents on Nov. 6.
President Lee Jae-yong said the university would work to close the digital divide by expanding practical education opportunities that allow residents to learn AI from the ground up and apply it in their daily lives.
