Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will attend the China International Friendship City Conference from Monday through Friday, at the official invitation of its sister city Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, the county announced Sunday.
The visit was arranged to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two cities and to examine advanced industrial practices in China that could be linked to the county's key policy initiatives.
The delegation is led by Uiseong-gun County Chief Choi Yu-cheol and Uiseong-gun County Council Speaker Ji Mu-jin, and includes 12 officials from departments covering planning, AI and data, lifestyle and energy, and agricultural policy.
The delegation plans to strengthen public diplomacy and explore avenues for cooperation on regional development through participation in the conference and bilateral exchange meetings.
The visit will focus particularly on three areas: AI, eco-friendly geothermal energy, and sixth-industry development linking agriculture and tourism.
"Exchanges with Xianyang have served as a foundation for the growth of both cities over the past two decades," County Chief Choi said. "We will actively incorporate the best practices we identify in AI, eco-friendly geothermal energy, advanced agriculture and rural tourism into county administration to secure new engines of growth for Uiseong."
