The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee held an awards ceremony Saturday for outstanding athletes and coaches from the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at the promotional hall of the 107th National Sports Festival at Jeju World Cup Stadium.
The committee selected 10 athletes and coaches for recognition. Attending the ceremony were MVP fencer Oh Sang-uk, Spirit Award recipient Lee Jun-seok (teqball), Leadership Award recipient Bae Gil-tae (men's 3-on-3 basketball head coach) and Special Award recipient Park Min-ho (marathon).
Oh, who claimed back-to-back double gold medals in the men's sabre individual and team events at consecutive Asian Games, received 30 million won ($22,200). Lee Jun-seok, the inaugural gold medalist in men's teqball singles, received 20 million won, while coach Bae, who led the men's 3-on-3 basketball team to its first Asian Games title, received 10 million won.
Park, who finished the marathon despite pain during the race, received the Special Award along with a gift prize. National Sports Festival volunteers and military personnel also took part in the ceremony.
Korean Sport & Olympic Committee President Yoo Seung-min said the achievements of the South Korean delegation on the Asian stage were the product of athletes' and coaches' hard work combined with public support. "We will strive to ensure that the dedication and effort of our athletes and coaches are recognized and can carry them forward to their next challenge," he said.
