Candidate recommendation process underway from Monday to Oct. 27; district office bureau chief disqualified over post-retirement waiting period
A former two-term Seoul Metropolitan Assembly member, identified only as A, has emerged as the leading candidate for the vacant chairmanship of the Seongdong-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
According to Seongdong-gu, the corporation's candidate recommendation committee has been accepting applications for the next chair from Monday through Oct. 27.
Seongdong-gu had initially considered a former district office bureau chief, identified as B, for the post and submitted his name to the Seoul Metropolitan Government for a qualification review. B was found ineligible, however, due to concerns over the mandatory waiting period following his retirement from public office.
The corporation subsequently launched a formal candidate recommendation process to fill the position. In the course of that process, A — a former two-term Seoul Assembly member — has emerged as the frontrunner.
A Seongdong-gu official confirmed that the recommendation process is ongoing. "Word is going around that a former two-term Assembly member is the leading candidate," the official said.
A has also indicated a willingness to submit an application. Whether A will ultimately be appointed remains to be seen, as the recommendation and appointment procedures are still in progress.
The previous chair of the Seongdong-gu Facilities Management Corporation was C, a former head of the district office's general affairs division, who completed a three-year term.
