Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju, who has been undergoing in vitro fertilization for three years, has opened up about the guilt she felt while trying to conceive.

A video titled "Seo Dong-ju letting go of guilt while preparing for pregnancy" was posted Thursday on her YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong."

"Yesterday was quite disappointing," Seo said in the video. "Even when I got an empty follicle before, at least one egg would come out the next time — but this time it was two empty follicles in a row. That happens sometimes, but those are the hardest moments."

She explained that the clinic believed she had ovulated earlier than expected. "The hospital was closed for National Foundation Day, so I couldn't get monitoring done, and I had already ovulated — that's why there were empty follicles," she said.

Seo said she was also told that artificial insemination was not an option for her. "They told me to try natural conception instead," she said. "If that happened, it would be nothing short of a miracle."

She added that she has been overhauling her lifestyle in hopes of getting pregnant. "I used to drink a lot of carbonated beverages, but I've cut all of that out and only drink water — I don't even buy them at home anymore," she said. "I feel like I have to be able to give those things up before I can deserve to have a child, so I'm trying to quit completely."

"I used to just push through colds without any medication, but now when I go to a café I order jujube tea or ginger tea instead of coffee," she added. "I've been doing things I never used to do for seven months now."

Seo is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee. She remarried in June last year, wedding a man four years her junior who works in the entertainment industry.
