Ulsan tourism pavilion open through Oct. 22 at Jeju World Cup Stadium plaza
Ulsan City is operating a tourism pavilion at the 107th National Sports Festival in Jeju, targeting athletes and spectators from across the country through Oct. 22. The pavilion is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and public holidays, and until 7 p.m. on the festival's closing day.
Set up at the plaza of Jeju World Cup Stadium, the Ulsan tourism pavilion features a photo zone with Ganwoljae as its backdrop, along with displays introducing representative tourist attractions, local specialties and tourism products from each of Ulsan's districts and counties.
Ganwoljae is a mountain pass nestled between Ganwolsan and Sinbulsan in Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun. It is a popular mountain tourism destination known for its vast silver grass plains that turn golden in autumn.
The pavilion introduces Taehwagang National Garden alongside Nam-gu's Jangseongpo Whale Culture Village, Dong-gu's Daewangam Park, Buk-gu's Gangdong Mongdol Beach and Ulju-gun's Bangucheon rock carvings, all accompanied by informational materials.
The pavilion also displays Haewuli, the city's official character modeled after a whale to represent Ulsan's history and culture, as well as character dolls for each district: Jung-gu's Ulsan Keun Aegi (symbolizing the warm-hearted women of Ulsan), Nam-gu's Jangsengi (the bowhead whale), Dong-gu's Gomi (the black pine), Buk-gu's Soeburi (an iron-smelting furnace) and Ulju-gun's Haetteumi (sunrise). Representative Ulsan tourism souvenirs are also on display.
Visitors who download the Ulsan tourism app "Wasseo Ulsan" and verify their membership registration are given a chance to participate in a prize draw, with various Ulsan tourism products offered as prizes.
"We are using the National Sports Festival, where athletes and spectators gather from all over the country, to showcase Ulsan's beautiful tourism resources and distinctive tourism products, with the hope that it will lead to future visits to Ulsan," a city official said.
