Busan city will hold a three-part finance lecture series starting Monday aimed at helping young residents build financial independence, the city announced Thursday.

Organized jointly by the city, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Busan Employers' Federation and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, the series is designed to discourage debt-fueled investing and promote a culture of sound asset building among young people under the message of "accumulating assets wisely."

Following a first-half series that drew more than 1,600 young participants and received strong reviews, the second-half program has been upgraded to offer more practical guidance in line with the rapidly shifting technology and economic landscape.

The lectures will be held in the main auditorium on the first floor of Busan City Hall, with each session open to 500 attendees for a combined total of 1,500. Leading experts in three areas — basic finance, financial investment and future assets — will take the podium.

The first session, on Monday, will feature personal finance YouTuber Kim Ji-eun, known online as "Kim Jjanbu," speaking on the theme "From Empty Account to Real Savings: How First-Year Workers Can Make the Most of Their First Paycheck." She will share practical tips on splitting bank accounts and making small investments to build seed money.

The second session, on Nov. 4, will feature Park Jong-hun, director of the Knowledge Economy Research Institute, speaking on "Understanding the Economy to See Investment Opportunities." He will cover macroeconomic trends and strategies for maintaining a steady investment mindset.

The third session, on Nov. 30, will feature Kim Dae-sik, a brain scientist and KAIST professor, presenting "Survival Strategies in the AGI Era." He will analyze how the AI revolution is likely to affect youth employment and offer strategies for restructuring asset portfolios to suit the times.

Before each session, the city plans to brief attendees on key youth support policies, including its "Busan Youth Three-Tier Growth Ladder" initiative, to raise awareness of available programs.

Any young person living in Busan is eligible to attend. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis through the official website at busanyoungyeongrikeul.kr, with separate sign-ups for each session.
