APR announced Thursday that it will begin supplying its Medicube Skin Booster to Latin America, starting with Chile next month.

Skin boosters are products that apply or inject active ingredients into the skin to improve its condition. APR announced plans to enter the skin booster business in 2024 and began full-scale production at its Pyeongtaek factory in July.

The two skin booster products APR is introducing are AGR and AGR Plus G, both based on polynucleotide (PN) material derived from salmon DNA.

AGR is an adhesive transparent wound dressing applied to the skin's surface, while AGR Plus G is a biocompatible tissue-repair material injected subcutaneously.

On Tuesday, APR plans to hold an official distributor certification ceremony and pre-launch event in Santiago, Chile, inviting about 300 guests including local clinic representatives, medical professionals and influencers.

APR selected Chile as its gateway into the premium Latin American market, citing the country's relatively high per-capita income and sophisticated consumer trends compared with the rest of the region.

Building on that foothold, APR plans to expand skin booster supply to overseas markets beyond Latin America, including Japan and the Middle East.

"Starting with Chile, we plan to gradually expand our supply reach to neighboring key markets, strengthen our production capabilities and regulatory foundations for each product, and step by step broaden our business presence in the global market," an APR official said.

In the domestic market, the company will continue developing products and working through regulatory procedures in preparation for a future launch.

Skin boosters are classified as medical devices and must meet relevant licensing requirements depending on the product category and intended use. AGR has received Class 2 medical device certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, while AGR Plus G holds a Class 4 medical device export permit from the same authority.
