The Korea Franchise Industry Association said Thursday it has launched its 9th advisory committee, composed of 26 experts from various fields, to explore sustainable growth strategies for the franchise industry.

The association held a commissioning ceremony for the committee on Tuesday and elected Kim Young-gi, chairman of Kuukuu Co., as the committee's head.

The advisory committee will advise the association on key projects, industry issues and long-term development directions. The association plans to use that input to examine the industry's various challenges and identify ways to strengthen the industry and its member companies.

The committee will gather broad input on spreading the co-prosperity and ethical management principles central to Association President Na Myung-seok's vision, as well as on the joint growth of franchisors and franchisees, regulatory reform, overseas expansion and the identification of future growth drivers.

Na said he expects the committee's launch to be a major asset in resolving the challenges facing the industry and finding new growth opportunities, adding that "bringing together expertise from each field and experience from the ground will be a great help."

Committee head Kim said the group would "pool its wisdom so that franchisors and franchisees can grow together and so that co-prosperity and ethical management can take root on the ground."
