Attending Japan's largest food expo for 6th consecutive year
Company seeks to secure new clients with specialty ingredients
Samyang Corp. announced Thursday that it is presenting specialty food ingredients for sugar reduction and dietary fiber enhancement at Hi Japan (Health Ingredients Japan 2026), a food exhibition held in Tokyo.
Hi Japan is Japan's largest food ingredients exhibition, drawing more than 600 food ingredient and retail companies from around the world and over 30,000 industry professionals. Samyang has participated for six consecutive years to identify local clients and expand its market reach.
At this year's exhibition, running from Wednesday through Friday, the company is promoting allulose, an alternative sweetener, along with two dietary fiber ingredients — indigestible maltodextrin and Kestose.
Samyang is particularly highlighting Fibernova, its Kestose brand that represents the culmination of the company's technological expertise. Kestose is a crystalline prebiotic ingredient containing more than 99 percent fructooligosaccharides (FOS).
The ingredient has low hygroscopicity, meaning it resists clumping and dissolves easily in water, making it suitable for powdered beverages and stick-type food products. It also delivers about 30 percent of the sweetness of sugar while keeping sugar content at roughly 1 percent.
Samyang is also offering samples of an electrolyte drink and vitamin C pectin gummies made with its allulose and indigestible maltodextrin. The vitamin C pectin gummies are formulated to reduce calories while adding dietary fiber.
The company also plans to share results from recent functional research studies on its individual ingredients to demonstrate the strengths of its specialty lineup.
"Japan is a market with strong consumer attention to healthy eating and active development of functional foods," said Jeong Ji-seok, head of Samyang's food business unit. "We will continue to provide sugar-reduction and dietary fiber enhancement solutions tailored to the needs of local customers, and expand our collaboration with clients in the Japanese market."
