Broadcaster and former announcer Lee Hye-sung said she wants to continue working and pursuing self-development for the rest of her life, even after getting married.
On Tuesday, Lee uploaded a review of novelist Yang Gwi-ja's "Moosoon" ("Contradiction") on her YouTube channel "Lee Hye-sung's 1% Book Club."
In the video, Lee shared her thoughts on marriage and life while introducing the novel.
"We make countless choices as we go through life," she said. "What do you think is the most important choice in life? For me, I think it would be choosing who to spend your life with."
She added that choosing to remain single and never live with anyone is also a valid option, and went on to say that questions around marriage are "an important topic that anyone — men and women alike — has probably thought seriously about at least once."
Lee also posed the question of whether it is happier to marry someone you love or wiser to marry someone who offers stability. "There can be many different interpretations of marriage," she said. "Looking at married couples, you sometimes find yourself asking what kind of person you should marry."
On her own views, Lee said, "Women these days are building wealth through their own efforts," adding, "Even if I do get married, I want to keep working and developing myself until the day I die."
Meanwhile, Lee graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in business administration and joined KBS in 2016 as part of its 43rd class of staff announcers. She resigned in 2020 to pursue a freelance broadcasting career. Lee had publicly dated fellow broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo beginning in 2019, but the two announced their breakup in 2022.
