Selected as preferred negotiating partner for cooling system supply
Project involves 160 high-efficiency air-cooled chillers
Would be company's largest single-project chiller supply if contract signed
Autech Carrier announced Wednesday that it has been selected as the preferred negotiating partner for the cooling system supply contract for the 200-megawatt "Gumi AI Cluster Data Center Development Project" in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province. If a final contract is signed, it would mark the largest single-project chiller supply in the company's history.
The project involves building a massive data center with 200 megawatts of IT capacity, optimized for workloads based on Nvidia's next-generation AI computing platform, Rubin.
Autech Carrier plans to supply 160 units of Carrier's high-efficiency inverter screw air-cooled chiller, the AquaForce 30XFZ, for the project. The company has been expanding its presence in the large-scale AI data center market, following an earlier contract to supply a 48-megawatt hyperscale data center.
The 30XFZ uses eco-friendly HFO refrigerant and is a high-efficiency air-cooled inverter chiller. By applying free-cooling technology during cooler transitional seasons, it can cut cooling energy consumption by up to 50 percent. The unit is also designed to reach 100 percent load within 120 seconds of a power outage.
Carrier's intelligent control system, SmartVu, is also incorporated. It enables real-time monitoring and efficient control of cooling equipment operations, boosting cooling reliability for data centers that require stable, around-the-clock operation.
As the generative AI and high-performance computing markets grow, power density and heat output at data centers have been rising. Cooling systems are increasingly recognized as critical infrastructure that determines power efficiency and operational stability — not merely devices that dissipate server heat.
To meet this demand, Autech Carrier is strengthening its integrated data center cooling business, which spans large-capacity, high-efficiency chillers, coolant distribution units for liquid cooling, free-cooling technology, and BluEdge, an AI-based facility management service.
Carrier's 1.3-megawatt CDU, the 65LL, was recently listed as "Product Qualified" in Nvidia's marketplace.
"This Gumi AI data center project is significant in that we are pursuing the largest single-project chiller supply in our history," Autech Carrier Chairman Kang Sung-hee said. "Drawing on Carrier's advanced cooling technology and Autech Carrier's project execution capabilities, we will provide an integrated solution spanning high-efficiency chillers to liquid cooling, and accelerate our push into the domestic AI data center market."
