Audit of gender equality ministry and affiliated agencies set for Oct. 28
Yoon Gu, president of Google Korea, has been summoned as a witness for a National Assembly national audit in connection with a data leak involving victims who had requested the removal of illegally filmed content. Park Su-kyung, chief executive of marriage information company Duo Information, whose database suffered a breach of some 420,000 personal records, was also added to the witness list.
The National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee held a plenary session Wednesday and voted to approve the national audit schedule and the list of witnesses and reference persons.
Yoon was called to appear in connection with a recent incident in which the personal data of victims who had requested the removal of illegally filmed content was leaked from an overseas research project site operating in collaboration with Google. The leaked data included the victims' names and contact details.
Park was designated as a witness over the breach of some 420,000 personal records at Duo Information. Kim Yeo-jin, head of the Korea Cyber Sexual Violence Response Center, was among those called to appear as a reference person.
The Gender Equality and Family Committee will conduct its national audit of the Ministry of Gender Equality and seven affiliated agencies on Oct. 28. The committee is then scheduled to conduct on-site inspections of the Korea Women's Human Rights Institute and the Central Digital Sex Crime Victim Support Center the following day.
