"Chefs tend to avoid induction cooktops in professional settings because of response time, but Miele's induction was satisfying even compared to a gas range. It's at a level that would work fine in a restaurant kitchen."

Chef Kim Hun of Ssaem Ssaem Ssaem, who trained at a Michelin three-star restaurant, offered that assessment after cooking on the new Miele induction cooktop. Miele Korea held a launch event for the product Tuesday at the Miele Experience Center Gangnam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Miele Korea officially released the KMDA 7876-1 Matte Finish on Monday — a hood-integrated induction cooktop featuring a matte black glass-ceramic surface. The company first introduced a combined hood-and-induction product to the South Korean home appliance market in 2019 and has continued to release new models since.

The launch event drew customers and social media influencers, who were shown the new product alongside Miele's broader kitchen lineup. Chef Kim, who appeared on Culinary Class Wars Season 2, hosted a live cooking show themed around a housewarming party, preparing his signature lasagna using the new hood-integrated induction cooktop and a Miele oven.

The hood-integrated function drew the most attention from visitors at the product demonstration. Unlike conventional overhead hood designs, the unit draws smoke downward directly from the cooking surface.

Miele said the product is designed to meet growing consumer demand for open-plan kitchens, as interest in home interior design has risen in recent years.

The new model's matte black glass-ceramic surface is engineered for a premium look. The high-temperature-resistant glass-ceramic material reduces surface scratches by up to 80 percent compared with standard glass-ceramic and makes fingerprints far less visible.

The cooktop features a "ComfortSelect White" control panel for intuitive operation. A single numeric panel at the center lets users control all cooking zones and the hood via touch.

The cooking area incorporates "PowerFlex XL," which links two burner zones into one large cooking surface, allowing large pots and oversized cookware to be placed freely. The induction automatically detects the size of multiple pieces of cookware and adjusts output to match each zone.

On top of that, the unit is equipped with a "TwinBooster" function delivering up to 3.7 kilowatts of power for rapid heating when needed. It cuts heating time by about 30 percent compared with the previous model, based on a two-liter water test.

The integrated hood has also been upgraded. A "Silence Motor" delivers powerful ventilation while reducing noise by more than 25 percent compared with the previous model. A 10-layer metal grease filter traps grease and odors produced during cooking, and the filter is dishwasher-safe for added convenience.

"For kitchen appliances today, how efficiently a product uses limited space and how naturally it blends with the kitchen's interior have become just as important as individual performance," a Miele Korea official said. "This new product combines an induction cooktop and hood into a single unit, with a matte black design and multiple installation options, to improve both cooking convenience and space efficiency."
