The Medihill Golf Team announced Monday that it had donated 10 million won ($7,490) in junior development scholarship funds to Sinseong High School alongside its sponsored player, Son Ye-bin.
The donation was intended to express gratitude to Son's alma mater for the education and coaching that helped her develop as a professional golfer, and to support the growth of future players. "It is meaningful to be able to express my gratitude to my alma mater, which guided me in becoming a professional athlete," Son said. "I am also grateful to the Medihill Golf Team for creating this opportunity, and I will work hard to repay that support with strong performances."
During her time at Sinseong High School, Son was selected for the national reserve squad and went on to finish first in the women's division of the national team trials, earning a spot on the national team and establishing herself as a standout talent in women's amateur golf.
A Medihill Golf Team official said the guidance of alma maters and coaches plays a vital role in a player's development, adding that the team would continue to support its athletes and give back through programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of players.
