Starbucks Korea launches a promotional event for its 16 million Rewards members starting Thursday. [Starbucks Korea]

Starbucks Korea will hold a member appreciation promotion from Thursday to Sunday to mark 16 million cumulative Rewards members. The Starbucks Rewards program, introduced in 2011, allows members to redeem accumulated stars for beverage coupons and food and product vouchers.

During the event, Rewards members who purchase select beverages — including Caffe Americano, Caffe Latte and Vanilla Latte — will earn two bonus stars on top of their regular star accumulation.

The range of coupons redeemable with stars will also be expanded. In addition to existing star coupons, members will be able to choose from buy-one-get-one coupons for Americano and other made-to-order beverages, free delivery through the Delivers service, a mini whole cake discount, and a To Go Bag discount. The free delivery, mini whole cake discount and To Go Bag discount coupons are all making their debut with this promotion.

New members will also receive special benefits. Anyone who joins Rewards during the promotional period will be automatically upgraded to Green status without any purchase requirement, along with a coupon offering 30 percent off beverages and food.
