Pregnant women who purchase bread, flour or pancake mix made from domestically grown wheat and submit a review will be eligible to win a bundle of domestic wheat products worth 70,000 won ($52). There is no minimum purchase amount, and products bought through general online shopping platforms or brick-and-mortar stores also qualify for entry.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced Tuesday that it will run a domestic wheat consumption campaign through Oct. 31, targeting participants in its eco-friendly agricultural product bundle program for pregnant women.
The campaign was launched after processed domestic wheat products were designated as mandatory items in the eco-friendly agricultural product bundle program, which the central and local governments began jointly operating this year. The initiative aims to encourage pregnant women to purchase domestic wheat products and broaden the consumer base for homegrown wheat.
The campaign is open to pregnant women currently enrolled in the eco-friendly agricultural product bundle program. Purchases made through the integrated eco-friendly agricultural products shopping mall, as well as through general online platforms and brick-and-mortar stores, are accepted.
To enter, participants must access the event page via a QR code in the event menu of the integrated eco-friendly shopping mall for pregnant women by Oct. 31 and confirm their eligibility. They must then submit proof of purchase — such as a receipt and photo — along with a product review.
Eligible products include flour, pancake mix, bread and other processed goods made from domestically grown wheat. There is no restriction on the purchase amount.
The ministry plans to select 600 entrants by lottery from among eligible participants and send each a bundle of domestic wheat products worth 70,000 won at retail price in November. An additional 10 standout reviews will be chosen, with each winner receiving a gift certificate worth 100,000 won.
"Many excellent products made from domestic wheat are being produced, but a lack of awareness has made it difficult to expand consumption," said Jeong Hye-ryeon, the ministry's food policy director. "We hope this campaign will help raise awareness of the quality of domestic wheat products among pregnant women and infants, and encourage households to use more homegrown wheat."
