Part of 'Sportwagenschmiede 35' strategy
Collaboration to expand into limited-production vehicles, performance kits
Porsche AG announced Tuesday that it has raised its stake in Manthey Racing to 67%. The move is part of the automaker's "Sportwagenschmiede 35" strategy, through which it plans to strengthen its high-performance model business under a newly established "Home of Sports Car" framework.
"Manthey is a long-standing and trusted Porsche partner with a strong motorsport community and a highly loyal customer base," said Dr. Michael Leiters, chairman of the Porsche AG executive board. "With this expanded stake, we plan to deepen our collaboration with Manthey — which has achieved outstanding results in customer racing near the Nürburgring — and grow our joint product and service offerings, including limited-production models, performance kits and exclusive racetrack experiences."
Under the "Home of Sports Car" framework, Porsche will consolidate three business areas: "Performance," which includes Manthey; "Exclusiveness," encompassing Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur; and "Heritage." The company plans to further expand its personalized products and services, which sit at the apex of all three areas.
Manthey brings three decades of GT expertise to the partnership, having claimed seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, six class wins at Le Mans, and multiple championship titles at the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters.
Through the expanded stake, Porsche aims to deepen its ties with Manthey and strengthen its position in the performance segment — spanning both racing circuits and public roads — across its GT model lineup.
Manthey has built a successful portfolio of distinctive performance products and experiences rooted in founder Olaf Manthey's on-track achievements. Since 2020, Porsche and Manthey have jointly developed nine Manthey kits covering the 911, the 718 and the latest Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package.
"Over the past 13 years, we have successfully completed numerous projects together, built on mutual trust and maintained a close working relationship with Porsche," said Nicolas Raeder, co-CEO of Manthey Racing. "We see this expanded stake as special recognition of what we have achieved together, and we look forward to further strengthening our partnership and supporting Porsche's 'Sportwagenschmiede 35' strategy."
Martin Raeder, the other co-CEO of Manthey Racing, added that the new ownership structure marks "an important turning point and a new chapter in our partnership, giving both sides a stronger foundation to move forward." He said the two companies would work closely to leverage existing synergies and potential, and further strengthen the link between motorsport and production vehicles.
Manthey offered a first glimpse of the collaboration's results Friday (local time) at the DTM event held at Hockenheimring in Germany, unveiling two special models to mark the company's 30th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Porsche has also been actively working to enhance customer convenience. The company recently unveiled a new generation of the Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus, or PCCM Plus, for the 911, Boxster and Cayman model lines.
Compatible with vehicles from model years 2009 to 2016, the updated PCCM Plus brings Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a range of display and convenience features found in current Porsche sports cars to older models.
