Howling Entertainment has issued a public apology after Ren, a member of the boy group Chaser, sparked controversy over inappropriate remarks made on a paid fan communication platform.

The agency posted an apology on its official SNS on Monday, saying it was "sincerely sorry to the fans who were hurt by Ren's inappropriate words and actions."

"Despite the need to show fans a more careful and responsible attitude, we deeply reflect on having caused disappointment and pain through careless words and behavior," the agency said. "His inappropriate conduct on PLUS CHAT cannot be justified under any circumstances and was unworthy of the love and attention fans have shown."

The agency said it was "taking this matter very seriously" and pledged to "pay closer attention to artist education and management to prevent similar incidents from recurring." It also said it would work to ensure a more careful and responsible approach in all future fan communications.

The controversy arose from an exchange Ren had with a fan on PLUS CHAT, a paid messaging platform.

When a fan sent a message saying they had been waiting for him, Ren reportedly replied, "But," "So what," and "Why do you keep saying that — you're so annoying."

Meanwhile, Chaser made their debut in February with the single "Sweet Like Sugar."
