The Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator held a kickoff meeting Monday for its "Fiscal Crisis Response Innovation Task Force," launching an organization-wide fiscal overhaul aimed at cutting operating costs, expanding self-generated revenue and improving project efficiency.
The task force is structured as a cross-organizational collaboration led by the head of the management planning division, with about 30 senior officials participating — including division heads from each business unit, the management planning department and the Techno Valley Innovation Group. It will operate using existing staff and organizational structures, with no additional hiring or restructuring.
The agency plans to run the task force as an execution-focused body rather than a simple idea-sharing forum. The entire process — from generating ideas and selecting initiatives to assigning responsible departments, monitoring implementation and analyzing results — will be systematically managed, with key outcomes reflected in future budget planning and institutional operations.
The agency has established three guiding principles for the effort: protecting core functions, managing workload and maintaining evidence-based performance management. Under these principles, it plans to preserve support services essential to businesses and Gyeonggi Province residents while eliminating inefficient spending and streamlining administrative procedures.
Starting this month, the agency will conduct brainstorming sessions across all departments to gather a broad range of fiscal innovation ideas.
"This task force will serve as the starting point for a fundamental fiscal transformation — one that goes beyond cost-cutting to restructure how we work, how we run our programs and how we generate revenue," said Kim Hyeon-gon, president of the agency. "We will protect the core functions that support businesses while boldly eliminating unnecessary costs, and reinvent ourselves as a sustainable public institution that leads fiscal innovation in Gyeonggi Province."
