Foundation visits Navy's 2nd Fleet Command in Pyeongtaek with 30 million won in burritos
Namhyang Food Tortilla sponsors donation; Army's 25th Division received similar support in February
Sports equipment worth 3 million won also donated for troops' living quarters
The SME Love & Sharing Foundation visited the Navy's 2nd Fleet Command in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, on Monday to deliver 33 million won ($24,700) worth of food and sports equipment to service members, the foundation said.
The donation was intended to boost morale among sailors guarding the West Sea and improve their living conditions. The items included burritos valued at 30 million won and sports equipment worth 3 million won for use in the troops' living quarters.
The burritos were sponsored by Namhyang Food Tortilla, a domestic food manufacturer. The small and medium-sized enterprise produces and distributes burritos and tortillas, and donates food not only to military units but also to orphanages, welfare centers and facilities for the elderly.
According to the foundation, Namhyang Food Tortilla donates products worth about 100 million won each year as part of its corporate social responsibility activities within the SME sector.
The foundation's support for military personnel has been ongoing. In February, it delivered 30 million won worth of burritos — also sponsored by Namhyang Food Tortilla — to soldiers of the Army's 25th Division. Combined with Monday's donation to the 2nd Fleet Command, the total value of burritos delivered to military units this year stands at 60 million won across two occasions.
Namhyang Food Tortilla posted sales of 29.62 billion won and an operating profit of 1.404 billion won last year, according to financial disclosures on the corporate information service JobKorea. Sales fell roughly 1.7 percent compared with 30.12 billion won in 2024.
Son In-guk, chairman of the SME Love & Sharing Foundation, attended the handover ceremony. "I am deeply grateful to the sailors of the 2nd Fleet who dedicate themselves to protecting the West Sea and keeping our citizens safe," he said. "I hope this support serves as a small encouragement in military life, and we wish you all the best as you carry out your mission in good health and safety."
