Vast stretches of wildflowers are transforming Daejeon's three major rivers into a rippling tapestry of autumn color.

As part of its 2026 flower complex project, the city of Daejeon has created seasonal flower gardens at key points along the riverways to offer residents and visitors a vibrant autumn landscape.

Spanning 12 sites and 120,000 square meters across the three rivers, the gardens were planted with a distinct flower for each waterway — cosmos along the Gapcheon River, zinnias along the Yudeungcheon River, and sunflowers along the Daejeoncheon River.

The autumn flower gardens are expected to remain in bloom for about a month. Cosmos are forecast to peak in mid-October, while sunflowers and zinnias are expected to follow later in the month.

"Daejeon's three major rivers form a green network running through the heart of the city," said Hwang In-hee, head of the city's River Management Office. "We hope the many residents and tourists who visit the flower gardens will take time to relax and soak in the spirit of autumn."
