'Door-to-door delivery' added for low-volume shippers
Selected businesses receive up to 90% of logistics costs covered
Incheon Airport GDC tapped for overseas delivery
Hanjin has been selected this year as the operator for three separate government logistics support programs targeting small and medium-sized businesses, expanding its scope from domestic delivery to overseas e-commerce fulfillment to ease the logistics cost burden on small operators.
The company announced Monday that it is participating in three logistics support programs run by agencies under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Hanjin was first chosen in May as an operator for the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency's online export logistics support program for small and medium-sized enterprises, followed by the Korea SME and Venture Business Distribution Agency's small business logistics service support program in June, and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business's overseas online platform logistics support program in August.
Hanjin is linking the government programs with its own logistics network to broaden the range of services available to small businesses, from domestic delivery to overseas exports.
In the small business logistics service support program run by the Korea SME and Venture Business Distribution Agency, Hanjin added a door-to-door parcel pickup service to reach operators that fulfillment centers alone cannot serve.
The addition reflects the reality that many small businesses handle low volumes or products such as seafood that are difficult to store in advance at a fulfillment center.
Starting from the third round of recruitment, Hanjin established a dedicated door-to-door delivery division using its nationwide collection network and the small business logistics platform One Click PRO, which it operates independently.
Through One Click PRO, businesses can handle everything from requesting a logistics quote to finalizing a contract entirely online. Small businesses selected for government support can receive up to 90 percent of their logistics costs covered, depending on the conditions.
Across the first through third rounds of recruitment under the Korea SME and Venture Business Distribution Agency program, 579 businesses have applied in total. Of those, 87 have been selected and are proceeding with contract arrangements — 23 using fulfillment services and 64 using door-to-door delivery.
Hanjin is also stepping up support for small businesses that sell products overseas.
The company joined the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business's overseas online platform logistics support program as its inaugural operator when the program launched this year. The program supports the export logistics of small and medium-sized businesses that sell products through overseas e-commerce platforms.
A third round of recruitment is currently underway, running from Sept. 29 through Friday. Businesses wishing to participate can apply through the Soho24 portal.
For overseas delivery, Hanjin uses the Global Distribution Center at Incheon Airport. When an overseas order comes in, the company provides a cross-border fulfillment system covering storage, packaging, dispatch and international shipping.
Hanjin has also participated for five consecutive years, from 2022 through this year, in the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency's online export logistics support program for small and medium-sized enterprises, handling overseas cross-border fulfillment and international express delivery under that program.
One health supplement company that used both the government support program and Hanjin's logistics services to enter the Japanese online market saw its sales grow fivefold and monthly average shipment volume increase more than tenfold over three years.
Beyond the government programs, Hanjin continues to collaborate with regional farms and online sellers to reduce their logistics costs.
The company works with Saiso, an online shopping mall for agricultural and specialty products from North Gyeongsang Province, to lower delivery costs for local farms, and partners with the live commerce platform Grip to help small businesses secure online sales channels.
Last year, Hanjin also participated in the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business's delivery and parcel cost support program for small businesses.
"Rooted in our founding spirit of contributing to the nation through transportation, Hanjin is pursuing a wide range of support measures so that small and medium-sized businesses — the backbone of the national economy — can reduce their logistics burden and focus on their core work," a company official said. "We will continue to actively leverage our nationwide infrastructure, the Incheon Airport Global Distribution Center, One Click and other distinctive logistics solutions to help small and medium-sized businesses grow and firmly build a sustainable, mutually beneficial logistics ecosystem."
Meanwhile, Hanjin has recently moved to expand its workforce. The company is conducting open recruitment for approximately 30 new employees in 2027, primarily in integrated logistics positions, and held a recruitment information session in Sinchon, Seoul on Wednesday, drawing more than 80 job seekers.
