Jung Hae-yong, the newly appointed commissioner of the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone Authority, kicked off his tenure by visiting companies based in the zone.
Jung visited the Sinseo Advanced Medical District and the Yeongcheon Hi-Tech Park District on Thursday, the day after he took office, the authority said.
The Sinseo Advanced Medical District serves as a hub for the advanced medical industry, supporting research, development and commercialization in areas including new drug development, medical devices and healthcare.
At the district, Jung met with Hong Chang-sik, chief executive of Repio Co., and other company officials to hear about their business conditions and challenges, and exchanged views on ways to support the stable management and growth of tenant companies.
In the afternoon, Jung moved on to the Yeongcheon Hi-Tech Park District — located in Nokjeon-dong and Hwasan-myeon in Yeongcheon — which is focused on attracting companies in the intelligent and next-generation automotive parts industry.
He toured the production floor of Hwashin Co., an automotive parts specialist, and met with President Jeong Seo-jin to discuss the future direction of the automotive parts industry while also looking into the challenges facing companies on the ground.
"I will deliver tangible results so that the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone can establish itself as an innovation hub that supports corporate investment and growth," Jung said.
