'COF integrated solution' makes debut at German exhibition
Targets defect inspection on large-scale HBM production lines
A domestically developed image optical transmission system capable of 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) has drawn attention after its public debut.
Vieworks unveiled the COF integrated solution at Vision 2026 in Stuttgart, Germany. The machine vision exhibition runs Tuesday through Thursday.
The COF (CoaXPress-over-Fiber) interface uses optical fiber as its transmission medium, delivering high-volume inspection images generated by high-speed cameras at 100 Gbps per channel without bottlenecks. With a maximum transmission range of 10 kilometers, the system is suited for large-scale production line environments in the semiconductor, display and battery industries.
Vieworks presented the system as a complete solution bundling a camera, dedicated cable and frame grabber into a single package — a step beyond the standalone COF cameras the company had previously offered. The integrated approach is designed to reduce the burden on customers when building their systems.
COF technology is emerging as a next-generation inspection interface. As the markets for HBM and large-area AI semiconductors expand, demand for high-resolution, high-speed imaging capable of catching defects has grown sharply.
"We will go beyond standalone cameras to offer an integrated COF solution covering the entire data transmission infrastructure, supplying customers with everything they need in one go," a Vieworks official said.
