A company that has consistently supported the physical and mental health of medically underserved communities and young people has been recognized as a distinguished corporate donor.

The Seoul Community Chest of Korea announced Wednesday that Eli Lilly Korea has joined its distinguished corporate donor program — known in Korean as "Nanum Myeongmun Gieop" — as its 119th Seoul member, in recognition of the company's sustained community giving. The program is open to corporations that have donated or pledged 100 million won ($73,600) or more within five years.

Eli Lilly Korea has contributed to the community through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea since 2021, and its track record of giving earned it a place in the program.

Eli Lilly Korea, the South Korean subsidiary of global pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company, has focused its corporate social responsibility activities on health and medicine. In 2022, it funded treatment costs for children and adolescents with diabetes. In 2023, it supported the installation of health-promoting stairways at local welfare centers and sponsored Chuseok events for elderly people living alone and children in care facilities. This year, the company donated 100 million won to the "Re-connect Project," an initiative aimed at helping isolated and withdrawn youth restore their physical and mental health.

Seiya Komatsu, chief executive of Eli Lilly Korea, said the company would contribute to healthier lives not only through innovative treatments and clinical research but also through community engagement. "As a member of the distinguished corporate donor program, we will continue to support the well-being of our neighbors and consistently carry out sincere social contribution activities," he said.
