Trinity Airways has signed a main sponsorship deal with the Goyang Sono Skygunners basketball club for the KBL 2026-2027 season, the airline announced Tuesday, as both sides seek to generate synergies within the Sono Trinity Group.

Trinity Airways held the sponsorship signing ceremony with the Skygunners at Goyang Sono Arena on Saturday. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the team's 2026-2027 season home opener against the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation.

Trinity Airways CEO Lee Sang-yun and Sono Skygunners General Manager Lee Ki-wan attended the event. Before tip-off, a ceremonial shot was taken to cheer the squad into the new season. The signing ceremony at halftime was followed by a commemorative photo and pledges of mutual cooperation and shared growth.

The Skygunners finished as runner-up in the KBL 2025-2026 season championship series. Through the new agreement, Trinity Airways plans to support the team and carry out brand-promotion activities targeting fans at Goyang Sono Arena.

Players will take the court with the Trinity Airways logo on the front of their uniforms. The airline will also run prize events offering flights on Southeast Asian and Japanese routes for fans attending home games.

Trinity Airways recently unveiled a selective service carrier strategy, under which passengers choose only the services they need for a given route or travel purpose rather than receiving a bundled package. The airline plans to use the partnership with the fan-friendly Skygunners to engage basketball fans and expand its customer touchpoints into the sports sector.

"It is meaningful to join Sono Skygunners for a new season — a team that moved fans so deeply last season," Trinity Airways CEO Lee said. "We will cheer the squad on this season while actively engaging with our customers and creating synergies together as a member of the Sono Trinity Group."

"It is meaningful to partner with Trinity Airways as it embarks on a fresh start as a member of the Sono Trinity Group," Skygunners General Manager Lee said. "Through this agreement, we will work to make a day at Goyang Sono Arena a joyful memory that fans will want to relive."

Meanwhile, Trinity Airways has been actively working to improve customer convenience, including recently becoming the first domestic carrier to introduce a service allowing passengers to purchase an eSIM at the same time as buying a flight ticket.
