Nongshim announced Tuesday that it will mark the 40th anniversary of Shin Ramyun by letting consumers choose the next special product to hit shelves.
The company unveiled two recipes developed in collaboration with chef Edward Lee, with the final product to be determined by public vote. The two options are Shin Ramyun Cheese & Doenjang and Shin Ramyun Seafood & Fish Cake, both co-developed by Lee and Nongshim researchers drawing on the chef's culinary experience and memories of Korean food.
Shin Ramyun Cheese & Doenjang blends the smooth, rich flavor of cheese with the savory depth of doenjang. Shin Ramyun Seafood & Fish Cake builds on a broth made from beef bone, seafood and vegetables, layered with Shin Ramyun's signature spice and a fish cake finish.
Online voting runs Tuesday through Oct. 18 on Nongshim's website and official Instagram account. An offline option is also available: registered participants can taste both products in person and cast their vote at the Shin Ramyun Bunsik pop-up in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. The winning product will go on sale in late November and remain available as a limited edition through the first quarter of next year.
