103 sessions at kindergartens, daycare centers and elementary schools through Nov. 27
Five fields covered — lifestyle, traffic, health, crime and disaster safety — tailored by age
Guro-gu is launching a tailored safety education program to help children recognize and respond on their own to dangerous situations they may encounter in daily life.
The district said it will hold "2026 Second-Half Customized Everyday Safety Education for Children" — a total of 103 sessions targeting 2,500 children at local kindergartens, daycare centers and elementary schools — from Oct. 5 through Nov. 27.
Certified instructors will visit each participating institution and deliver lessons suited to the children's age group and learning environment.
At kindergartens and daycare centers, instructors will use props such as fire extinguishers, life jackets and dolls to teach children how to respond to fires, water-safety rules and other situations they are likely to encounter in everyday life.
At elementary schools, a dedicated instructor will be assigned to each class to keep sessions small and interactive.
The curriculum spans five fields — lifestyle safety, traffic safety, health safety, crime safety and disaster safety — and is further broken down into topics including pedestrian safety, first aid, medication safety, prevention of child sexual violence and abduction, and earthquake response. Schools and institutions may select the topics most relevant to their needs.
"It is important for children to learn safety rules repeatedly from an early age," Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong said. "We will continue delivering safety education tailored to children's level so they can protect themselves in dangerous situations."
