The Democratic Party of Korea removed a commemorative banner from its website after errors were found in the depiction of the trigrams on the Taegukgi, South Korea's national flag.

According to political sources, the party posted the banner Thursday to mark Armed Forces Day, expressing gratitude and respect for military personnel. The banner featured an image of a soldier seen from behind alongside a waving Taegukgi.

One of the flag's four trigrams was found to be incorrectly positioned — the "gon" trigram, which should appear in the lower right, had been placed in the lower left. Observers also raised concerns about inaccuracies in the soldier's uniform and equipment depicted in the banner.

The banner was reportedly produced using generative AI, prompting criticism that the party had failed to conduct a proper review after its creation.

The party took the banner down after identifying the errors. A Democratic Party official said the mistake occurred because it was not caught during the working-level production process, adding that the banner was removed immediately after the error was recognized.
