Company acquires domestic rights to 'Medisafe,' set to distribute nationwide to hospitals and clinics
A medical data protection and recovery solution designed to prevent treatment delays and gaps caused by ransomware attacks will be supplied to hospitals and clinics across South Korea.
Daewoong Pharma announced Thursday that it has signed a domestic licensing agreement with Hippocrat Labs for Medisafe, a distributed backup and security solution.
Medisafe stores hospital data in a distributed format, enabling rapid recovery when existing data becomes inaccessible due to ransomware infections or other cyberattacks. Backup data is kept isolated from a hospital's internal network and stored across multiple locations, reducing the risk of operational and backup data being compromised simultaneously.
Daewoong will handle sales and marketing through its nationwide hospital and clinic network. When a medical institution is hit by ransomware, it can lose access to critical data such as patient records and test results, disrupting core clinical functions including record retrieval and entry, test result confirmation and prescription issuance — ultimately halting patient care.
"Following our digital health solutions, we will expand into infrastructure that supports data protection and recovery, helping medical institutions maintain stable digital operations," said Lee Chang-jae, chief executive of Daewoong Pharma.
